LIVERIDER CYCLING COMPUTER IN-BOX MATERIALS FOR YOUR BIKE.

Below, you can find a list of materials included with your LiveRider kit along with a brief description of each part. Please see software setup and hardware setup instructions on this page for more detailed installation information.

Bike Handlebar Mount for iPhone & iPod Touch
Liverider Receiver Cycle Computer

The LiveRider receiver attaches to the 30-pin connector of your iPhone or iPod touch. It receives information from the sensor when you are riding. The green LED indicator will blink about once per second when it is receiving information.

The handlebar mount is designed to secure iPhone and iPod touch while protecting it from vibration and debris. It is designed to be attached to your handlebar in portrait position using included included cable ties.

Large and small cable ties are included. Use large cable ties to secure the iPhone or iPod touch mount to your handlebars. Use small cable ties to secure bike pedal magnets to your bike crankset, and the LiveRider cycling sensor unit to your chainstay.

Spoke magnet: Attach to your rear bike wheel spoke via included hex key.

LIVERIDER SENSOR

The LiveRider sensor attaches to the chainstay on the left side of your bike. Use small cable ties to attach via the square shaped openings.

BIKE PEDAL MAGNETS

Suggested for use with mountain bikes.

Pedal Magnets for Liverider Biking Computer

Suggested for use with road bikes.

Bike Pedal Magnets attach to crankset using included small cable tie.

Hex Key for Liverider Cycling Computer

Bike Pedal magnet spacers are also included. Bike Pedal magnet spacers may be needed to attach to your crankset underneath your bike pedal magnet so that the bike pedal magnet can be moved up to one inch closer to the rear wheel sensor. Optimal distance from the pedal magnet to the rear wheel sensor is 1/8 inch. Optimal distance from the rear wheel sensor to the pedal magnet is also 1/8 inch.

Use the small hex key to attach the spoke magnet to your rear bike wheel spoke. Fit one end into the screw within the spoke magnet, and tighten to secure.

NOTE REGARDING LIVERIDER SETUP: The spacing between the chainstay and spokes must be at least 7mm (~1/4”) to successfully mount the bike sensor in its intended position. For bikes with chainstay/spoke spacing less than 7mm, it may be possible to mount the sensor below the chainstay using the top two holes for the cable ties.

Download and launch the FREE app using iTunes.®

The main ride screen includes display for cycling data captured, including speed, cadence, distance traveled, and elapsed time.

Slide the green chainlink icon to the left or right to access menu options and set up your ride information.

Select the green chainlink icon at any time to return to the ride screen.

Settings options allow you to add your bike information, manage your bike information, turn your device’s auto lock on or off, select your average mode, and access in-app help.

Average mode allows you to control the detail displayed in the average speed and cadence graph.

INFO & HELP

Help for Liverider Cycling Computer

Choose your bike name, and enter it in the “Name” field.  Select your wheel size from the included list.

Your LiveRider cycle sensor will automatically pair with the LiveRider receiver; verify this by rotating your bike wheel.

Select your units (Miles/MPH or Kilometers/KPH).  Estimate and enter your riding weight, which includes the weight of your body, bike, and gear.

Select the chain link icon to save and return to the ride screen.

Press “Start” to begin a new bike  ride.

The menu screen provides access to new ride setup, saved ride data, ride map, and settings information.

“Saved Rides” will display time, average speed, cadence, distance, max speed, and calories for each session in graph form. “Saved Rides” will allow you to make ride notes and export all data captured via email.

Select “Settings” to enter your bike information.

Select “Help” in your settings options to view app version information, email LiveRider support, or view an in-app overview of LiveRider hardware setup.

Select “Current Bike Settings” in your settings options to add custom bike and ride information.

 


STARTING YOUR BIKE RIDE

Starting Your Bike Ride for Liverider Cycling Computer

When your hardware and software setup is complete and you begin bike riding with LiveRider, the green light on the receiver should blink about once a second. This indicates that the LiveRider cycling receiver is receiving information from the sensor. As pictured here, the green chainstay icon on the main screen will say "Start" or "Resume" when the app is successfully communicating with the receiver.


CHASE RIDER FEATURE

From the main ride screen, swipe top to bottom to access the chase bike rider feature.

Select Saved Bike Rides for Liverider Cycling Computer

Press “Select” to choose your session as the chase rider and return to the chase bike rider screen on liverider.

Chase rider screen: Select the yellow and blue chase rider icon in the top left corner of the chase cycling rider screen.

Saved Cycle Rides for Liverider Cycling Computer

Your saved rides will appear. Choose the saved session that you would like to compare the current session to.

Start Bike Riding for Liverider Cycling Computer

Start riding. As pictured here, the yellow rider will show how far your current session speed is ahead or behind your previous time. The “Chase” number also provides that information. Tap the chase rider icon again to select the “No Chase Rider” option and end your chase rider session. Swipe from the bottom to the top of the screen to return to the main ride screen.

As shown here, selecting a saved ride shows a graph of your speed over the course of your saved cycling ride.

DELETING SAVED BIKE RIDES

Swipe right to left to view a graph of your cadence data. The summary screens also show your time, average speed, cadence, distance, max speed, and calories for this bike riding session.

Select the notepad icon at the top (right side) of the summary screen to add notes about your session. Notes will appear as part of the name of your saved bike ride.

You can delete your saved bike rides from the “Saved Rides” screen. Press “Edit.”

EMAILING SAVED RIDES

From the summary screen within the saved ride that you have selected, choose “E-mail” in the top right corner.

You will be prompted to enter an email address. Your LiveRider cycling computer data file will be attached to the email.

Press the red subtract symbol to select rides to delete. Choose “Delete All” to delete all your saved bike rides. Choose “Done” when you are finished.

Enter the email address where you would like to send your cycle computer data.

Ride data will be emailed as an attachment to the address you enter in CSV format for easy uploading into a spreadsheet or database.

CYCLE COMPUTER DATA DETAILS

The following fields will be included in the LiveRider Cycle Computer data file that you email. You will be able to select and analyze data in the fields that are important to you.

HMS:  time (hours, minutes, seconds)
TURNS:  current wheel turn count
TIME:  the current session time in milliseconds
DIST:  distance traveled
SPD:  speed
MXSPD:  maximum speed
AVGSPD:  average speed
CAD:  cadence
MXCAD:  maximum cadence
WATTS:  power
STATE:  state of the dongle
LNK:  RF link status
SPDSENS:  speed flag (indicates a speed reading was available)
CADSENS:  cadence flag (indicates a cadence reading was available)
RSSI:  RF signal strength
LQI:  link quality index
DROP:  number of dropped packets
BATT:  battery status
UNITS:  'E' for English (miles,MPH), 'M' for metric (kilometers,KPH)
AVGS30:  30 second speed average
AVGS60:  60 second speed average
AVGS300:  300 second speed average
